WHO Director-General Dr. Ted Ross told a press briefing that more than 5.2 million new cases were recorded last week, the highest in a week since the corona virus was introduced.
The virus has also increased deaths and more than 3 million people have officially died from corona so far, he said.
DrTedros said that it took 9 months to reach 1 million deaths but 4 months to reach 2 million and 3 months to reach 3 million deaths.
He added that now Corona is also affecting young people, with infections and hospital admissions rising alarmingly in people between the ages of 25 and 59.
